IRS Identity Protection Requirements
Taxpayers with an IRS-issued Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) must include it on their return. The prior-year AGI is used by the IRS to authenticate e-filed returns. First-time filers or those who filed a paper return last year should use $0 as their prior-year AGI.
