IRS MeF Communications Gateway

IRS MeF Architecture: Returns are submitted as SOAP 1.1 envelopes over TLS 1.2+ to the IRS Modernized e-File endpoint. Each submission contains a ZIP archive of XML return data signed with your ERO certificate.

ACK Timeline: The IRS returns a SubmissionId synchronously on receipt. Acknowledgments (Accept/Reject) are typically available within 24–48 hours for production submissions.

ATS Testing: Use the ATS (Assurance Testing System) environment to validate submissions before going live. Switch environments in Gateway Config.
